Me and my partner stayed in the Habana Libre for 5 nights during the annual Winter Music Conference in Miami Beach. We truly enjoyed our stay there. The staff did everything they could to ensure we had a pleasant stay. And the cleaning staff was also excellent and did a really good job of cleaning our train wreck of a party room every morning.
The location, to me, is great. It's close enough to all the madness that is South Beach, but far enough so that when you come back at night you find yourself in a comparatively quiet area compared to South Beach. And the beach near Habana Libre is just as nice as South Beach and not nearly as crowded. And the beach near the hotel has a boardwalk which South Beach doesn't have. A really lovely boardwalk overlooking beautiful Miami Beach.
I will say though that the hotel is showing wear and tear. But they are in the process of renovating the entire property and renovations are scheduled to be completed by this fall. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite and it was perfect for us. Two nice flat screen televisions, a fold out couch, a dining table and a small kitchenette with all the dishes and pots and pans you could possibly need on a vacation. But the carpet in the rooms in a bit worn and the fabric on the sofa was also worn. The management acknowledged this and assured me that new carpeting and new sofas were part of the renovations. For the price we paid for a 1 bedroom suite, I feel we got a good deal. I don't think you could find comparable accomodations at the price we paid.
I will definitely return to this hotel. I love Miami Beach and I love the Habana Libre!

My wife and I stayed at the Habana Libre for 6 nights and were very happy with our stay. We had a suite with a king bed and separate living room with a kitchen. The hotel was a little old and dated but was very comfortable. Everything was perfectly clean and well kept. The room was very large(compared to other Miami Beach hotels we have stayed in). The location was perfect for us as we did not want to be in middle of the loud and busy area of South Beach, however we were close enough in this hotel to walk (about 15minutes) or a short cab ride. The beach is right across the street and the hotel also has a nice pool. The front desk provided us with beach towels anytime we asked. The free breakfast was fine and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There were several restaurants around the hotel as well as a convenience store. Having the kitchen with fridge was nice. The price was excellent and great value for the money. We will most certainly return to this hotel.

I went to this hotel last August and i must say we never booked a 3-star hotel before so we didnt know what to expect.. prices were excellent and the website was really appealing to us. Once we got there after a 12hr flight we were nicely received by the friendly staff at the hotel. The rooms were really clean and looked just like the pictures said it would! There are so many things to do in Miami that we didn't know were to start.. we we're lucky that there was this guy on shift named Wendell who told us all about the great things to do in Miami (and also important: what not to do!) ! He gave his honest opinion on certain activities which we really appreciated. So thanks Wendell, you made our stay even more fantastic!! The hotel is really close to the beach (just one block) and you can take the bus ($2 single fare) to see north and south beach. Tip: go to universal studios! It's sooo great.. an experience you will never forget! If we will return to Miami someday we will certainly be staying in this hotel :)

The best about this hotel is the location and the rooms..The service don't speak french, that's a shame but about the rest is a nice place to stay in holidays, rooms well prepared with everything you might need.

This hotel was exactly what I wanted. It was very reasonably priced, clean with a friendly staff. It didn't have a lot of amenities but the pool was clean and the free breakfast was good, if you're trying to stay within a budget. It's the same every day (eggs, toast, ham, assorted cereals with juice, coffee, water or tea) but it's still decent. There is a pool table in the lobby that you don't have to pay for. Valet parking is $16/day (which is cheaper than other places I've stayed in Miami Beach). You CAN walk to South Beach and a lot of the clubs and shopping but it is a bit of a walk if you're not used to it.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room came equipped with a refrigerator (so we were able to save more money by going to a grocery store and buying some lunch foods) and they also let us use the microwave downstairs. The restaurant only serves breakfast from 7:30-11:00.
If you're used to a 5 star hotel and/or are very high maintenance, this place probably isn't right for you. But it's definitely a good price for the location and it's clean and reasonably quiet.
